You know that feeling when you stumble upon something so beautiful it leaves you speechless? That was me, standing under a tunnel of cherry blossoms in Okayama, and I couldn’t help but grin like a kid in a candy store.
Okayama Korakuen: A Historical Garden in Bloom
First stop, Okayama Korakuen. I had heard it was one of Japan’s top three gardens, but nothing prepared me for the sight of 280 blooming cherry trees. As I walked through the garden, the scent of sakura was intoxicating, and I was lost in a world of pink and white. Honestly, I totally underestimated how stunning this place would be!
Tottori Tsuyama Castle: A Festival of Light and Blossoms
Next, I headed to Tsuyama Castle, where the “Tsuyama Sakura Festival” was in full swing. Imagine 1,000 cherry trees lit up against ancient stone walls—it was like stepping into a fairytale. I told my mom about it, and now she’s planning a trip!
Ibara Tsutsui: A Riverside Stroll
By the time I reached Ibara Tsutsui, I was craving some peace. The 800 cherry trees lining the river were perfect for a lazy afternoon walk. The reflection of the blossoms on the water was pure magic. Plus, the “Ibara Sakura Festival” added a cozy vibe with lanterns lighting up the night. Not gonna lie, I shared it on WhatsApp before I even got home, lol.
Ojigadake: Sea Views and Sakura
If you love a good view (who doesn’t?), Ojigadake is your spot. Overlooking the Seto Inland Sea, the cherry blossoms here add a splash of pink to the stunning seascape. I literally gasped at how the blossoms and the ocean blended into one masterpiece.
Kuse Tunnel: A Sakura Passage
Finally, the Kuse Tunnel left me in awe. Walking through a kilometer of sakura trees felt like a dream, with gentle petals falling like snow. The “Tenryo Kuse Sakura Festival” lights made the experience even more enchanting. Budget tip? Entrance is free, but maybe splurge ¥500 (around $4 USD) on some local snacks!
If you’re thinking of visiting these spots, go for it—I’d love to hear what you think. Just maybe avoid August, unless you’re a fan of sweat and humidity!
