A Taste of Heaven: Discover Shizuoka’s Stunning Views and Delicious Dining!

EyeCatchTitle: A Taste of Heaven: Discover Shizuoka's Stunning Views and Delicious Dining! Shizuoka

Imagine this: the breeze of summer gently caressing your face, the sky a canvas of blues and whites, and Mount Fuji majestically peeking through the clouds. Honestly, I didn’t expect to be so moved by a mountain! But there I was, standing at the top of Japan’s Nihondaira, feeling like I had stumbled upon a secret treasure.

Japanese Elegance at Nihondaira Hotel

First stop on my Shizuoka adventure was the Nihondaira Hotel. Nestled on a hill, it’s a place where luxury meets breathtaking views. The moment I walked into the All Day Dining The Terrace restaurant, I was hit by the panorama of Fuji-san. I was there for the lunch buffet, and let me tell you, it was a feast for the senses! For around ¥3,500 (about $23 USD), you get to sample over 40 dishes. I went for the hotel’s special hamburger steak, and I literally gasped at how juicy it was!

The buffet had everything from exotic appetizers to rich desserts. Oh, and the desserts! I could write a sonnet about the cakes alone. If you ever find yourself there, try the glass desserts. You won’t regret it.

Set Sail on Shimizu Port Bay Cruise

Next up was a Bay Cruise from Shimizu Port. Picture this: you’re on a boat, the salty air in your hair, and Mount Fuji looming in the distance. It felt like a scene out of a movie. The cruise, which costs about ¥1,000 for 35 minutes (roughly $7 USD), is one of the most relaxing ways to see the area. Plus, the ship’s interior is cozy if you prefer staying indoors.

I ended up buying some sakura shrimp tempura before boarding and paired it with local beer from the ship’s bar. Not gonna lie, I felt pretty fancy. The cruise also gives you a glimpse of the bustling port life with its massive tankers and cranes.

The best part? I didn’t have to fight any crowds. It seems like a hidden gem among the usual tourist spots, which made it feel all the more special.

If you’re planning a trip to Shizuoka, don’t forget to make reservations for the Nihondaira Hotel lunch. It gets booked up quickly, especially during summer!

Would I go back? Absolutely. But maybe not in August—I’m not a fan of the heat. If you’re up for an adventure with a bit of luxury and a whole lot of views, then Shizuoka might just be calling your name.

If it sounds fun, go for it—I’d love to hear what you think.
